Johanne Hamel, D. Ps. Psychologist and Art psychotherapist, is a retired professor of Université du Québec en Abitibi-Témiscamingue, where she taught art therapy for 20 years. She retired from the Université in 2017 but is still active in the field. She is currently teaching annually at the International Program of Art Therapy in Thailand (IPATT) and in Geneva, with Swiss and French art therapists. She maintains a small private practice in Sherbrooke, Québec, Canada. She is regularly invited to present lectures or workshops in International Conferences in Europe, USA and Canada about Somatic art therapy or Dreams and art therapy. She offers in April each year workshops in French in Costa Rica. She is also a visual artist and an art therapy author. She published books both in French and English. Among her titles are: Somatic Art Therapy, Alleviating Pain and Trauma Through Art (2021), New York and London: Routledge; Dreams, Art Therapy and Healing, Through the Looking Glass (2020), New York and London: Routledge; Dreams and Nightmares in Art Therapy, The Dream of the Jaguar (2021), New York and London: Routledge.
