Lidice Cohen, PhD, MPS, ATR is a trauma- and grief-informed registered art therapist, researcher, educator, and speaker whose work centers on the integration of virtual reality (VR) technologies within contemporary art therapy practice. Her research explores how immersive 3D virtual environments can expand expressive capacity, enhance group process, and increase accessibility for adolescents and young adults, particularly those impacted by trauma, grief, and systemic barriers to mental health care.
Dr. Cohen has presented her research nationally and internationally, contributing to the growing evidence base on VR as an innovative and ethically responsive modality in art therapy. She is especially interested in the intersections of technology, creativity, embodiment, and meaning-making, and in how digital tools can be used to support connection rather than replace relational care.
In addition to her research, Dr. Cohen facilitates clinical groups, continuing education trainings, and webinars for clinicians, educators, and community organizations. She is available for speaking engagements, workshops, academic presentations, and professional consultation related to virtual reality in art therapy, trauma-informed practice, grief support, and innovative clinical methodologies. Dr. Cohen is interested in collaborating on future research exploring the use of virtual reality across expressive therapies and related interdisciplinary fields.
