The School of Visual Arts (SVA) will host a panel presentation/ book event entitled, Embodiment in Theory and Practice: A New Paradigm in Art Therapy during their monthly community lecture series to celebrate the release of the book. Participating panelists include: Lidice Cohen, Mia de Béthune, Dani DeLade, Karen Gibbons, Juliet King, Valeria Koutmina, Kelley Linhardt, and Jennifer Tedesco. The title of hte panel is The Embodied Art Therapist: Theory and Practice for a New Paradigm. Panelists include Mia de Béthune, Kelley Linhardt, Valeria Koutmina, and Emily Nolan (moderator).

Mia de Béthune, Valeria Koutmina, and Lidice Cohen, the authors of Chapter 9: Embodied methods in online art therapy, of The Embodied Art Therapist, in conversation with panel moderator and book editor, Kelley Linhardt, discuss the chapter at the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) conference in Charolotte, North Carolina. The title of the panel is Exploring embodied methods for online and virtual reality art therapy.

Laury Rappaport, Cornelia Elbrecht, and Johanne Hamel, authors of Chapter 6: Embodied Methods in Art Therapy will take part in a panel discussion moderated The Embodied Art Therapist editor Mia de Béthune, titled, Three Theorists Discuss: Why Should Therapists Engage in Embodied Art Therapy Practice? during the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) virtual conference. The panel will explore each author's embodied art therapy methodology and the ethical mandate for art therapists to utilize body-based methods of treatment and care.

Bri Beck, author of Chapter 14: Engaging Disability Art: Lessons for embodied, anti-oppressive art therapy and Jennifer Tedesco and Cindy Perkiss, co-authors of Chapter 15: Grace in the broken parts: Embodied art therapy methods for working with chronic pain and medical trauma will take place in a panel discussion moderated by The Embodied Art Therapist editor Kelley Linhardt. titled: Repair and Reclamation: Disability Art and Embodied Art Therapy in Conversation during the American Art Therapy Association (AATA) virtual conference. The panel will discuss social justice-informed best practices for working with medical trauma, disability, and chronic pain using embodied art therapy.
